Southwestern Burger

Kent and I find these burgers very tasty.  I enjoy being able to come home, make a meal and get it on the table in an hour or less.  Give it a try!

Southwestern Burger Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (or turkey or whatever ground meat you like)
1/2 cup Mexican blend grated cheese (you could also top your burger with some of this cheese too)
1/4 cup salsa (use the salsa for a condiment on your burger)
1/4 cup crushed tortilla chips
1 thinly sliced green onion
1 thinly sliced chipotle pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 clove garlic
1/2 – 1 teaspoon salt

1. In medium bowl combine ground beef with all ingredients.  Mix together lightly but thoroughly.
2. Shape into 4 patties.
3. Grill or fry in skillet until done to your liking.  
4. When done place on toasted (or not) roll and top with salsa, sprinkle with cheese and chow down!

Simple and Delicious!

  1. Normally I’m a burger purist (no kneading, seasoning on the outside only), but I may have to try these. I love tex mex fusion stuff, and these sound like they’d be great with some guac. What kind of ground beef do you use? Lean? Regular?

    • I am bad and use 80/20 or sometimes worse! 😦 I rarely, if ever use lean. In moderation, right?! I am sure lean would be just great too. Guacamole would be an awesome topping!!

      • Nah, if you’re going to make a hamburger, it’s not going to be healthy anyway, so may as well go all the way. Makes for a better tasting burger. Funny, we don’t use the numbers so much up here, just “regular”, “lean”, and “extra lean”. I usually use the high fat stuff when I grill in the summer, even though it causes flare ups, because the “lean” at the nearest grocery store is so lean it dries out.
